In just three weeks, a new era of Star Wars animation begins in Maul: Shadow Lord—and our latest look at the new series teases a Maul who’s in a world of hurt… and has some very big plans for his very big beef with his former master.
Today Lucasfilm dropped a brand new trailer for Shadow Lord, which is set early on in the reign of the Empire and after the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which saw Maul and his brother Savage Opress brutally humbled by Darth Sidious as the brothers attempted to fashion out a criminal empire of their own. Now alone once more and trying to rebuild his power, Maul finds an unlikely ally in his bid to take down the Empire his old master has become the head of.
That help comes in the form of a former Jedi, on the run after the events of Order 66, Devon Izara (Gideon Adlon), a padawan who finds herself given a dangerous offer she and her master (Eeko-Dio-Daki, voiced by Dennis Haysbert) can’t refuse by Maul—the power to bring down the Empire. But while we know Maul is not someone you can trust at the best of times, will Devon learn that the enemy of her enemy is not necessarily her friend until it’s too late?
We’ll start finding out when the first two episodes of Star Wars: Maul—Shadow Lord begin streaming on Disney+ April 6.
